The origami that isn’t

I suppose this gorgeous paper art by German artist Simon Schubert is technically origami (according to the Wikipedia definition of that word, anyway), but it’s unlike any origami I’ve ever seen. Instead of folding the paper completely to create different shapes, Schubert creases the paper in a design pattern that catches light and shadow when the paper is unfolded. You can check out Schubert’s website for a gallery of other beautiful works (heads up: the site’s in German, though the art speaks for itself).
